My travel diary from Varanasi
My low cost Varanasi trip has always been a challenge. I was looking for something good in reasonable price. To be very honest I really researched a lot. That's the reason I was under hell lot of tension.
First of all it was my first women's trip with my mom outside West Bengal. Earlier where ever we have travelled my father used to be with us. This time due to some emergency & work pressure he couldn't make it. I was really confident and determined that I'll make this trip happen.
In India everyone is really afraid of any sort of girls trip or things like that. Total scenario has changed into diffrent levels as rape cases, humiliation, and eve teasings are growing rapidly. It was not that easy to convince my father but I made it.
This write up is just to inspire and give all a brief idea about this trip and yes you can travel alone.😊
So I started my journey on 23rd March 2019 from Howrah station. I bored into my train (Vibhuti Express). I must say a really good train service it gave us, in terms of timeliness. We reached Varanasi at near about 9:30. We took auto from outside (which costs 150 for 3) from the station as our hotel was already booked and it was at Mir ghat. Auto dropped us at Godowlia more, from where hotel staff came to recive us (as just after this more the roads are crowded and without two wheeler actually there is zero scope to travel with). We had to walk through hotel from the narrow lanes. I was throughly enjoyed it. After 5 minutes of walking we reached our hotel, though the person was carrying our fully stuffed heavy luggage himself!! Hat's off man😪.
After reaching there,we took rest and ordered our breakfast as I was damn hungry. Actually this hotel has good food service I must say. Oh! I'm so sorry I forgot to introduce you all with my hotel, it's Sunrise lodge, which is in Mir ghat. It was hardly 5 minutes away from Kashi Vishwanath temple and 2 minutes walking distance from Dashaswamedh ghat. I was only staring from my balcony,which has outstanding view.
I was telling my ma" I'm feeling like I should go right now." One thing to remember if you are travelling with your parents you have to obey their words. In the same way she asked me to go to bed and take nap as it was a 13hrs journey. This holly place has a diffrent charm with little old feel.
Day 1 :
In the evening we went on foe boating as I've said earlier I was dying to enjoy the serenity. I am really running out of words to describe the beauty and peace of the holly Ganga (Ganges). We had to do a lot of bargainging with the boat owners, they asked for lot of money for max to max 1-2 hrs of boating. We have been alerted by our hotel owner that "Didi apko bohat bargaining karna hay, yeh log jyada mangte hay bohat." we followed that only. We managed this 2 hrs trip for 100 each (100*3=300).

I was astonished, I was happy to be there. I was in hurry as well because we had to attend the evening arti. He took us for the most awaited Boat ride. We were on our sharing boat as few local youth was there with us. The boat dada was describing us about some famous ghats and it's history. Then our boat ride ended near about 6:45p.m and we were shocked to find that already places were filled with tourists. Some how we managed a place and we eye witned something diffrent and something way more beautiful. Evening arti took place at 7p.m in summer days. After that we returned to our hotel.

Day 2:
We went out for Sarnath at 9 a.m. From Godowlia more we again bargained and book auto for 500 rupees. This was a short trip for 2.30hrs. He dropped us at the pick up point as well, from there we stood by a shop and tasted thandai (Keshari malai thandai) which costs 50 per glass. After that we started walking towards our hotel. As I've said earlier you can not access any vehicle from that place.
It was 11:30 but temparature was killing. Temparature was 37 degree at 11 only
Ughh!!!!😣
In the evening we again went for ghat as it was the most accessable place for us. I love boat riding 🤣🤣🤣 may be this is third or fourth time I'm saying this...
Ok so today I was shocked and angry you know what??? A boat owner was offering ride for only 50 rupees per head, I was about to cry 😩.
Last day he fooled me... Noooo!!!

What ever as usual I enjoyed the journey...
Then again we reached at ghat at 6:40 almost. The prayer was about to begin so we quickly went from there because my day 2 moto was to taste chats from varanasi. As I've said I did research about this palce, good & bad so chat was in my checklist along with thandai and banarasi paan. So during my morning trip I was asking about certain shops to our auto dada & he said it. I was searching for them and after crossing Godowali more I found "Kashi Chat Bhandar" I was about to taste chats either from "Deena chat bhandar" or else "Kashi chat Bhandar" when I found it really didn't look for anything, directly jumped into the shop but it was crowded as expected. We ordered tomato chat, papdi chat, golgappa and kulfi faluda, which costs 150 (35 each plate). Then we retured to hotel as the crowd would return from that way only. We just wanted to ignore the crowd.

Day 3 :
I was just enjoying my leisure and the scenetic view from balcony. Ma wasn't allowing me to go out in the heat which was more than 37 degree outside that day. I was enjoying it from my a.c hotel room.😊😂
But for lunch we went out. The restaurant was nearer to Godowlia more "Dawat". We ordered non-veg food as my sister got bored with veg food.
Again in the evening we went to the chat shop and I again ordered tomato chaat, dahi fuchka then we were busy in buying gifts for everyone. When we were returning from ghat the prayer was still going on so we stopped by the place and managed to sit there.

Day 4:
I went on for solo morning walk at 6 a.m then I retured and at 8:30 I went for temple which was at only 5 minutes walking. I returened at 9:25 a.m.Ok so it's time for us to bid goodbye as per our earlier plan but Vibhuti was cancelled for the day 😩😩😩.
We returned on flight.
So if anybody wants can return by Doon express as well but it really has a very bad habit of delaying.😆

**p.s We didn't went for Sangam as the cabs were asking for 2500-3000. I was planning for train journey to Allahabad but our hotel dada said as we are 3 women we should ignore it.😊
