Beat the heat with yummy food and drinks.
How are you beating the heat? I have my own tricks for this summer. But my today’s magic ingredient is “curd”.
Today I will share with you all the easy and refreshing food as well as drink ideas to beat the sweltering heat . Let’s start it.
Rayta: I’m sharing with you for 2 people. To make it you need ingredients like onions (one medium) finely chopped, coriander leaves chopped, cucumber slices chopped, one small tomato finely chopped, curd Full of a bowl, medium sliced capsicum or bell paper in different colors to make it a bit more attractive, sprouts, few drops of lemon juice. In spices you need rosted cummin powder, chaat masala, red chill powder, salt as per taste and a bit of sugar for taste .
Process- In a medium size bowl add the chilled curd, chopped veggies, as spices as per quantity, and then mix it well and add the coriander leaves for presentation.
*Before anything don’t forget to mix the curd forsmoothness.
*Add salt just before having the rayta other than that it become wattery.
Lassi: For two glasses of lassi you need chilled curd, a small bowl full of sugar, a pinch of salt, you can even add 1-2 drop of rose water, etable obviously, few drops of lemon juice . You need to blend them togetherly in a blender. Add 2-3 cubes of ice and it’s ready.

Smoothie: 1cup non-fat milk, 1 cup greek yogurt, plain, vanilla or honey, 1 ½ cups ice cubes, 1 banana (if frozen, leave out some of the ice), 1 mango, about 1 cup chopped, ⅛ cup unsweetened coconut, 1 teaspoon vanilla,1 tablespoon honey.
Place all ingredients in a Mixer grinder or blender and blend until smooth, about 3 minutes. Serve with chia seeds additional coconut and chopped mango if desired.
Even you can give a try on dahi vada.

Dahi vada: Ingredients for David bada are 1 cup urad dal, 1 green chili - chopped (hari mirch), ½ inch ginger - chopped (adrak), 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera), 1 pinch asafoetida (hing), 3 tablespoon water for grinding the batter or as required, ½ tablespoon raisins (kishmish), 8 to 9 cashews - chopped (kaju), salt as required - i added ⅔ teaspoon rock salt (sendha namak)
other ingredients for dahi vada: 2 to 2.25 cups curd (yogurt or dahi) - i made homemade curd made from 500 ml organic milk, ½ to 1 teaspoon chaat masala or as required, ¼ to ½ teaspoon red chili powder or as required (lal mirch powder), 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder(bhuna jeera powder), black salt or regular salt as required
for tamarind chutney:
½ cup seedless tamarind - tightly packed (imli), 1.75 cups water, ½ teaspoon ginger powder, 1 pinch asafoetida (hing), ½ teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera), ¼ teaspoon red chili powder (lal mirch powder), 7 to 8 tablespoon jaggery or as required - adjust as per your taste, rock salt or black salt or regular salt as required, 1 teaspoon oil
for green chutney:
2 cups coriander leaves (dhania patta), 1 or 1.5 teaspoon anardana (dry pomegranate seeds) OR ½ to 1 teaspoon amchur powder (dry mango powder), ½ tablespoon chopped onion(optional), 1 or 2 garlic cloves (lahsun), salt as required, water as required.
